Tattoo aftercare

After the tattoo is made, aftercare plays an extremely important role in the proper healing of the tattoo and in achieving a lasting result. Here is a guide on tattoo aftercare:

  • Cleaning: Carefully clean the tattooed area with mild, antibacterial soap and lukewarm water. Use a soft hand towel or gauze to avoid scratching the skin. Rinse thoroughly, then pat dry with a clean paper towel. Do not rub hard or use a rough sponge.
  • Ointment: Apply the ointment (Pegasus) recommended by the tattoo artist to the tattoo. It is important to apply the ointment only with clean hands to avoid infection. Apply a thin layer and gently massage into the skin. Do not use too much ointment, as this can prevent the skin from breathing. Treat with the ointment 2-3 times a day.
  • Sun protection: Avoid exposing the tattooed area to direct sunlight until it is completely healed. UV rays from sunlight and tanning beds can fade or distort your tattoo. After healing, use a high factor sun protection cream to protect the tattoo.
  • Do not scratch: It is very important not to scratch or tear off the suture layer or peel of the tattoo. Let the skin peel off naturally. Scratching or rubbing can cause inflammation, infection or scarring and affect the final appearance of the tattoo.
  • Do not soak: Avoid prolonged baths, jacuzzis or swimming in the tattooed area until the skin is completely healed. Soaking can cause excess moisture, which can lead to longer healing times, increase the risk of infection, and soak the dye out of the skin.
  • Do not tear off the suture: If a suture forms after the tattoo, do not try to tear it off. Let the warts fall off on their own or be removed by the skin’s natural processes. Removing the var can cause injury and result in scarring.
  • Don’t wear tight clothing: Avoid tight or irritating clothing that may rub or put pressure on the tattooed area. Choose clothes made of loose, breathable material that will not rub the tattoo.
  • Avoid contact with chemicals: Keep the newly tattooed area away from household chemicals such as cleaning agents, detergents or paints. These substances can cause irritation or infection of the healing skin.
  • Follow the instructions: Always follow the aftercare instructions given by the tattoo artist. He knows best the nature of the tattoo and the individual reactions of our skin, and can advise on the most suitable aftercare methods.
  • Hydration: We regularly hydrate the tattooed area to preserve the moisture content of the skin and help the healing process. Use a perfume-free and lanolin-free moisturizer that does not irritate the skin. Apply the moisturizer in a thin layer, but do not apply too much, so that it does not stick to the clothing.

The aftercare of the tattoo is essential for proper healing and to achieve a lasting result. Taking care and following the instructions will help your tattoo stay beautiful and healthy for a long time. If you have any questions or concerns, always contact your tattoo artist or doctor for help and advice.
